At our health and wellbeing centre in Kingsbridge, we often meet people who feel overwhelmed by ongoing pain and high levels of physical sensitivity. It affects everything – work, sleep, relationships, confidence, even identity. And more often than not, by the time they walk through our door, they’ve already lost hope.

They’ve been told there’s nothing more that can be done. That painkillers, injections, or surgery are their only options. Even then, the outcomes feel uncertain. They feel like they’ve tried everything and nothing has truly helped.

Often, these patients describe feeling much older than they are. The dreams and plans they once had – holidays, hobbies, playing with grandchildren, simply being active – now feel out of reach. They’re frustrated, cross at their bodies for letting them down, and upset with others for not listening or understanding.

  • They worry about becoming a burden.
  • They worry about losing their independence.
  • They worry about painkiller dependency.
  • They worry – constantly.

Many have seen numerous health professionals, but no one has taken the time to really listen. And when you’re told to “just live with it”, it can feel devastating – especially when there’s still so much you want to do.

But here’s what we know: being heard makes a difference.

Being taken seriously, feeling understood, and being told you’re not alone and that others feel this way – about their bodies, their pain, and their futures.

We see people like this every day at HealthHub Kingsbridge. And we’ve seen what’s possible when someone takes that first step, even if it’s just with 1% of hope, when they decide to try one more thing, speak to one more person.

Change is possible. Support exists. And you don’t have to do this alone.

If you know someone who might be feeling like this, please share this with them. We’d love to help.

In the meantime, here’s a powerful short clip from the Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI) that explains pain, sensitivity, and why it can behave like a sensor light. Call or email us if you want to know more. There’s so much we’d love to show you – and so much that can be done.
