What You and a Sensor Light Have in Common
Jun 06, 2023I have recently seen several patients in clinic who have super high levels of sensitivity in their body. They have ongoing pain that affects every aspect of their life. Generally they feel very low because of the impact their symptoms are having on their life and the effect it is having on the relationships with those around them. There are often tears in the treatment room. They have given up on finding a solution or anything that could help. They have lost their hope and faith that there is something that can be done.
Commonly, they can’t see a way out of the situation they are in. They feel old before their time, like their life is pretty much over. There are so many things they still want to do but these once exciting dreams now feel impossible to achieve. They are frustrated and cross with themselves and their body that is letting them down. Often cross with others for not helping them in the way they want or listening. They get told drugs or surgery are the only option and even these things are risky or not definitely going to work or help.
They worry about being a burden on family and friends and missing out on shared activities.
They worry about becoming addicted and reliant on painkillers.
They worry about becoming immobile and losing their independence.
They worry about so much, not just the pain they are in.
Commonly these people have seen lots of health practitioners and never got the help they need. They are often told that nothing can be done and they have to live with symptoms now and accept it. How hard is that when you still have things you want to do?
These situations are tough but one thing always always makes a difference. Someone listening. Someone understanding. Someone being able to say that they aren’t alone and that they aren’t the only ones who feel this way in their body, about their body and life.
We see these people every day at the HealthHub. We hear these stories all the time. Changes are possible. It all starts with taking one step. It all starts with believing, even if with only 1% of you that perhaps you will try one more thing, see one more person.
Please please share this with friends and family who you might be worried about or think may be feeling this way. We would like to help.
In the meantime, here is a wonderful clip from Neuro Orthopaedic Institute (NOI) about sensitivity in your body, pain and why it is like a sensor light. Call or email us if you want to find out more. There is so much to show you and so much that can be done to help.
